Our Story
Edgewater Outfitters was founded in 2022 by Captain Remo in beautiful Hoonah, Alaska — a small community on Chichagof Island that most visitors only glimpse from the deck of a cruise ship. Remo saw an opportunity to share the real Alaska: the remote streams, the wildlife, the quiet backcountry that lies just beyond the port.
Our Mission
We believe every visitor deserves to experience Alaska beyond the tourist trail. Our trips are intentionally small, our guides are local, and our routes take you places that most people never see. Whether you're a seasoned angler or picking up a rod for the first time, we'll make sure you leave with stories worth telling.
Your Guide
Meet Captain Remo
Remo was born to fish and the only thing that he enjoys more now, is sharing this passion and experience of the outdoor world with others. He grew up in the small town of Cuero in South Texas fishing the regions lakes, rivers and the bays of the Gulf of Mexico. Remo's had his Captain's License, Master 100 Ton, since 2011 and has been taking people on fishing and hunting excursions since he was 16 years old. He's spent summers as a sport fishing, hunting and adventure tour guide in different areas of SE Alaska since 2017 and finally founded Edgewater Outfitters in 2022 in beautiful Hoonah. At Edgewater Outfitters every stranger is a friend and even on the slowest days while guiding, Remo works hard to ensure his clients have the trip of a lifetime.

Safety First
Your safety is our top priority. Captain Remo holds a USCG Master 100 Ton Captain's License and maintains all required Alaska state permits and business licenses. All tours are conducted with safety equipment on board and guests are briefed before every excursion.
